It’s time to live within our means and stop the yearly municipal tax increases. Last year City Council approved the lowest tax increase in ten years. I do not believe it is sustainable to continue raising the tax burden on homeowners year after year. Just as businesses and households have to make choices based on the funds available to them, our City Council needs to make tough budget decisions to live within its own means.
I am well-qualified to do this thanks to my experience managing large budgets and prioritizing strategic investments. Not only have I made tough budget decisions in my corporate experience, but also as a member of not-for-profit boards. I have been that practical voice at the table saying that we can’t fund everything and that we have to focus on our core responsibilities. I will bring that same approach to the office of City Councillor: making sure we’re spending our money wisely and effectively.
